Fired heaters and waste heat recovery units Linde Engineering has more than sixty years of experience in designing and building fired heaters and waste heat recovery units, and has supplied more than 3.000 fired heaters around the world.

Fired heaters

Fired heaters are designed by Linde according to individual process requirements for refinery, petrochemical and any other industrial applications. Those heaters are working with pressures from 0.05 to 200 bar, temperatures up to over 900°C, in a range of fired duties from 3 MW to more than 100 MW. Fired heaters are mainly single-cell, double-cell box and cylindrical types, as single, or multi-pass designs. They are fired by natural-draft or forced-draft bottom, top or sidewall burners.

In addition to fired heaters designed as per API Standard 560, heaters are also available in compact inline designs for all types of water-glycol mixtures, thermal oil, molten salts or gases are also available. Efficiency of over 90 % is achieved by means of preheating of the air, by steam generation or by including process coils into the convection section.

Waste heat recovery units

Waste heat recovery units recover the heat from exhaust streams emitted by gas turbines, waste incinerators, CO boilers or any other fired equipment. They can be integrated into a complete process heat transfer system. These units can be installed in tandem with heaters and can be used to heat organic thermal fluids or other liquid or gaseous media.

These systems can also be used for the incineration of organic waste, solvents, process off-gases containing hydrogen and salt-laden wastewater. The exhaust gases are used in waste-heat trains to heat and partially vaporise crude oil in several tube bundles connected in series, and also to heat process water or steam.
